From Farm to Fork: Our Producer Collaborations
At Magic Oven, we believe that great food starts long before the stove is turned on. It begins in the soil, the pasture, and the sea. We’ve partnered with some of the most dedicated producers in the region to bring you dishes that aren’t just delicious—they’re a celebration of community and stewardship.
1. FisherFolk × Wild-Caught Haddock
The Producer: FisherFolk is more than a fish market; it is a tribute to the “proud, conscientious folk” who harvest the Atlantic. Based on a mission of sustainability and transparency, they support small-scale, independent fishers to ensure our oceans remain healthy and our coastal communities thrive.
The Intention: By sourcing Nova Scotia wild-caught haddock, we are bringing the cold, clean flavors of the East Coast to your table. We honour this pristine catch by transforming it into two vibrant, aromatic dishes:
- Spicy Fish Curry: A bold, heat-forward tribute to the ocean’s bounty.
- Indonesian Coconut Curry: A silky, fragrant journey that lets the delicate flake of the haddock shine.
2. Nith Valley Organics × Pasture-Raised Lamb
The Producer: Located in Plattsville, Ontario, Nith Valley Organics is a family-run farm with a “modern twist” on traditional mixed farming. Nathan and Aleta Klassen are committed to being sustainably responsible for the environment and their community, raising their lamb on open pastures where the animals can thrive naturally.
The Intention: The quality of Nith Valley’s lamb is a direct result of their “soil-to-soul” philosophy. Because the meat is so tender and flavorful, it provides the perfect foundation for our comfort classics:
- Shepherd’s Pie: Hearty, wholesome, and rich—the ultimate comfort food.
- Lamb Curry: A slow-simmered, spice-infused celebration of pasture-raised quality.
3. Thorganic Farms × Certified Organic Beef
The Producer: Since 1972, the Madden family at Thorganic Farms has lived by a simple motto: “Simple and Natural.” Raising their Black Angus herd on 100 acres of pure, chemical-free pasture in Thornton, Ontario, they manage everything from the organic grain they grow to their own on-site organic butcher shop.
The Intention: We chose Thorganic’s beef brisket because of its incredible marbling and clean, deep flavor. We slow-cook this brisket into a Rich Beef Ragout, a dish that honours the decades of organic tradition behind every cut of meat. It’s beef exactly as nature intended.
4. Joyfully Organic Farm × Harvest Vegetables
The Producer: Joyfully Organic Farm is led by Liz and Matt, first-generation farmers who believe that “healthy soil grows nutrient-dense vegetables.” Using bio-intensive, minimal-tillage practices near Markham, they focus on soil stewardship to produce vegetables with extraordinary color, vibration, and flavor.
The Intention: When you taste our Harvest Slaw, you are tasting the health of the soil. By using Joyfully Organic’s crisp cabbage, sweet carrots, and earthy beets, we create a side dish that is a literal rainbow of nutrients—crunchy, fresh, and bursting with the vitality of the land.
5. Neighbours Feeding Neighbours × Heritage Tomatoes
The Producer: Neighbours Feeding Neighbours is a Toronto-based movement dedicated to urban resilience. By turning underutilized city land—like front and backyards—into productive, pesticide-free gardens, they are proving that food security can start right in our own neighborhoods.
The Intention: We’ve taken their sun-ripened, hyper-local tomatoes and concentrated that summer sweetness into our House-Made Ketchup. This isn’t just a condiment; it’s a mission in a bottle. It’s the taste of a city learning to feed itself, one tomato at a time.
Why We Do It
These collaborations are the heartbeat of our food. When you eat with us, you aren’t just supporting a small business; you are supporting a network of fishers, farmers, and urban growers who are committed to a better food system. Thank you for being part of the circle.
